This morning, Friday, May 10th, 2013, the Friends of the Haverford Township Free Library were honored to receive the Phyllis S. Larson Award for Outstanding Citizen for Libraries.
L to R: Bob Plowman, Nicole Bruno, Nikki Senecal, Natalie Tomasco, Janae Alberts
The award was given as a part of the Legislative Breakfast and Awards Ceremony held in the Francis J. Catania Law Library at the top of the Media County Courthouse and we were recognized for providing the HTFL with much needed funds for events and programs as well as hosting our own programs such as the annual Garden Tour and Book Sales. The Friends are honored to receive this award and to be publicly recognized for all our hard work. Thank you!
Happy New Year!
You may remember from the interview with new library director Christine Faris, she was hoping for $39,900 from the Haverford Township Board of Commissioners so that the library could restore six hours that had been cut from the schedule in order to maintain the library in a fiscally responsible way. Well, they came through! The new library hours are Friday and Saturday 10 am to 5 pm.
Thank you to the Haverford Township Board of Commissioners and Township Manager, Larry Gentile.
Please remember to thank your commissioner via phone call, e-mail, or letter. Let them know how important the library is to our community, and how much you appreciate the restoration of hours.
